Welcome to Woldale, a very special place steeped in the history of angling, and rich in mystique, tranquility and biodiversity.
“Small wonder I never catch many carp, for the place enchants me from the moment I enter the reserve”
George Sharman, discussing Woldale in his book ‘Carp And The Carp Angler’
Woldale is a beautiful angling venue set in a protected landscape in the East Midlands, but it’s much more than that. This pocket of historic parkland played an outsized role in the evolution of modern angling, from the 1950s onwards.
The area continues to be sensitively managed on behalf of the landowner by the same small angling club to this day. Explore these pages for more information about its history, its famous faces and its ongoing management.
